Man bursts into flames after police officer hit him with stun gun

CATSKILL, New York — Graphic video made public Friday exhibits a person who doused himself in hand sanitizer bursting into flames when a police officer used a stun gun on him at a New York police station in October.

Safety footage launched by the state legal professional normal’s workplace exhibits Jason Jones, 29, rolling on the ground within the Catskill police station foyer and rubbing his head to cease the flames.

Jones, who was taken off life help in December after six weeks in intensive care, was on fireplace for about 25 seconds and appeared to have burns on his higher again.

The legal professional normal’s workplace launched the safety footage as a part of its investigation into Jones’ demise.

Previous to being hit with the stun gun, the shirtless Jones is seen in a tantrum, ripping his hoodie and undershirt off, throwing a shoe at a desk and knocking over a jug of hand sanitizer as three officers look on.

A couple of minutes later, Jones picks up the jug of hand sanitizer and squirts the liquid on his again and head. An officer then takes out a stun gun and shoot Jones with it and there is a flash of sunshine on the video as Jones bursts into flames.

Police Chief Dave Darling stated officers in Catskill, about 33 miles (53 kilometers) south of Albany, have been accustomed to Jones from earlier encounters and have been probably afraid he was going to harm himself.

Jones had been a standout observe and basketball athlete at Catskill Excessive Faculty greater than a decade in the past, The Occasions Union reported.
