LOS ANGELES (AP) — Federal prosecutors have charged 4 individuals in reference to the theft and killing of an off-duty Los Angeles police officer and allege the suspects are tied to a road gang, authorities mentioned Thursday.
Officer Fernando Arroyos, 27, was fatally shot at about 9:15 p.m. Monday in an unincorporated space of south Los Angeles County.
Authorities have mentioned Arroyos was purchasing for a home along with his girlfriend when a pickup truck approached, a number of suspects received out, there was an argument and gunfire was exchanged between the assailants and the officer. Arroyos’ girlfriend was not harm.
The U.S. Legal professional’s Workplace in Los Angeles introduced the fees on Thursday night time forward of a press convention scheduled by the Los Angeles County sheriff.
The defendants are charged with violent crime in assist of racketeering; three are alleged to be members of the Florencia 13 (F13) gang and the fourth is taken into account an affiliate of the gang. They have been taken into custody on Wednesday and are anticipated to make their first appearances in federal courtroom on Friday afternoon.
